Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Lloyd R. Lembcke, age 88 of Grey Eagle who was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 7th. The Reverends Paul Biegner and Noah Wehrspann will officiate and burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Long Prairie. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Stein Chapel in Long Prairie and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church in Long Prairie.
Lloyd Ralph Lembcke was born December 1, 1921 to Ernest and Hazel (Carlsen) Lembcke in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Lloyd was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army at the conclusion of World War II where he served as a Corporal in the Pacific Theater. He married Hazel Arlene Merrell on December 4, 1943 in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Lloyd was a life long resident of Todd County, living in Grey Eagle since his marriage. Lloyd operated a farm and also worked at the Long Prairie Gravel Pit as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in the late 1980's. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cutting wood, working outdoors, rock polishing, carpentry, reading, listening to Louis L’Amour novels, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lloyd was a member of American Legion Post #0417 of Little Sauk, VFW Post #1140 of Long Prairie and was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church were he served as an elder and usher.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Dianne Thieschafer of Burtrum, Linda (Melvin) Nierenhausen, Gloria (Bruce) Thom, all of Rice, MN, David (Margaret) Lembcke of Warwick, RI; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; wife, Hazel on March 22, 1982; son, Michael on July 16, 1999; and son-in-law, Alvin Thieschafer.
Casket bearers will be Duane Thieschafer, Darin Thom, Melvin Nierenhausen, Kyle Thieschafer, Chad Thom, Chris Lembcke, Curtis Lembcke, Jesse Lembcke, Barb Maland, Kim Schwartz, Carrie Schlichting, and Tami Dobis
