Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sauk Rapids for Mamie A. Vernon, age 88, of Sauk Rapids who died Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids. Rev. Paul Cloeter will officiate and burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Perham. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. Arrangements were made by Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Mamie was born July 20, 1921 in Edgeley, ND to Herman & Edith (Beneke) Fischer. She married Ronald Vernon on Nov. 26, 1940 in Edgeley, ND. Mamie worked as a business office manager at Concordia University in River Forest, IL and University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids. She was also a member of the Ladies Aide, LWML Delegate, and a RSVP Volunteer. Mamie enjoyed spending time with family and traveling to visit family.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Carol) of Green Valley, AZ and Larry (Linda) of Rice; sisters and brothers, Helen (Wendell) Siedschlag of Berlin, ND, Arla Mae Kennedy of Lamoure, ND, Lorraine (Joe) Kennedy of Fullerton, ND, Robert (Tina) Fischer of San Antonio, TX , Rodger (Marilyn) Fischer of Berlin, ND, and Karen (Michael) Efta of St. Regis, MT; grandchildren, Elizabeth Vernon of Burnsville and Derek Vernon of New Brighton; and great grandchildren, Cole and Ethan.

Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; and siblings, Arnold Fischer, Floyd Fischer, Norma Jean Janssen, and Ruth Christenson.
