A gathering for family and friends will be held from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Chapel, Sauk Rapids for Roger D. Olson, age 87, of Sauk Rapids who died Friday, March 12, 2010.

Roger was born April 28, 1922 in Barrett, Minnesota to Bennett & Inga (Hetland) Olson. He married Olivia Long on Feb. 18, 1944 in San Diego, California while in the U.S. Navy. He returned to Sauk Rapids where he and his brothers Pierce and Winton owned and operated the Sauk Rapids Dairy for many years. Roger retired in 1976 and decided to find part time work at Coborn’s Cash Wise Grocery, helping with repairs and maintenance. Roger and Olive loved to cook and were the best at making Lefse. They winter vacationed in Florida and Brownsville, TX. Roger and Olive lived in their beautiful Mississippi River home over 50 years.

Roger is survived by two sons, Dale (Phyllis) and Paul; grandchildren, Jeremy, Valarie, Nicki, and Casey; and great grandchildren, Caraline and Ellaina. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olive; sister, Irene Alexander; brothers, Pierce and Winton; and grandson, Cortney Olson.

Memorials are preferred.
