Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake for Verna Wipper, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital after a long battle with Leukemia. The Rev. Peter Holm will officiate and burial will be in South Santiago Lutheran Cemetery in Santiago Township. Friends and relatives may call from 4-9PM Tuesday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Clear Lake and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the church in Clear Lake.

Verna was born in St. Cloud to Thoulow & Doris (Hohlen) Gilyard. She grew up in the Clear Lake, Becker, and Briggs Lake area and has lived in the area for almost her entire life. She married Glen Wipper on February 6, 1954 at South Santiago Lutheran Church in Santiago Township. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Verna enjoyed playing cards, especially 500, cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, watching Twins baseball, making trips to the casino. She was a hard working farm wife who was very devoted to her family. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Glen of St. Cloud; children, Greg (Orene) of Becker; Bruce (Gina) of St. Cloud; Brian (Ruth) of St. Cloud; Robert (Jean) of Clear Lake; Joan (Harry) Ernzer of Clear Lake; Sharon (Jeff) Cielinski of Clear Lake; sister, Elaine Erickson of Becker; brother, Ronald (Lavonne) Gilyard of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Travis, and brother in law, Ernest Erickson.
